[ THE SITUATION ]

  • OPERATIONAL LEAD: U.S. Army Central California Recruiting Battalion
  • SECTOR: Military / Executive Protocol / Event Broadcasting
  • TIMELINE: 2023

The formal transfer of authority, executed through Change of Command and Change of Responsibility ceremonies, is a critical operational milestone for any military battalion. These high-visibility events require zero-fail logistical precision and strict adherence to military tradition. As the Public Affairs Specialist, my objective was to modernize the execution of these ceremonies, ensuring seamless physical logistics while engineering a real-time digital broadcast infrastructure so that remote command elements, families, and stakeholders across the 48,000-square-mile footprint could bear witness to the transition of power.

[ THE STRATEGY ]

I engineered a “Ceremonial Broadcasting & Visual Identity” strategy. The operation required a dual-front approach: securing the physical environment and protocol on the ground, while simultaneously acting as the digital director to project the ceremony across the battalion’s digital space on social media.

[ THE EXECUTION ]

  • Ceremonial Logistics & Staging: Directed critical on-site logistical operations, ensuring the physical environment met the rigorous standards required for a formal military transition of power.

  • Brand Architecture (Print): Modernized the visual identity of the ceremonies by redesigning the official event programs, aligning traditional military collateral with updated, high-level command branding.

  • Live-Broadcast Operations: Engineered and executed the real-time live streaming of the ceremonies on Facebook and Instagram. Acted as the sole technical director to troubleshoot and maintain continuous digital transmission under live-event pressure.

  • Visual Intelligence Collection: Captured high-resolution photographic assets during the transitions, executing rapid post-event syndication across the battalion’s social infrastructure to publicly solidify the Continuity of Command.

[ THE AFTER-ACTION REPORT ]

  • Zero-Fail Execution: Successfully managed the logistical and digital operations for multiple executive transitions without a single breach of protocol or broadcast failure.

  • Omnichannel Continuity: Ensured the incoming Command leadership was immediately established and recognized across all physical and digital operational nodes.
