Sponsored by the U.S. Army, Mentoring Matters, Hand in Hand Mentoring, and Clovis Veterans Memorial District, the Best of the West All-Star Game pays tribute to the U.S. Army and its acts of service by bringing high school senior football stars from all over the valley to play against high school senior football stars from the San Diego area. As the Digital & Social Media Marketing Manager for the U.S. Army’s Central California Recruiting Battalion, it was my job to support the event from the Army perspective.

GOALS

My overall goals were to;

  • Gain positive brand awareness within the Central Valley on social media for the battalion.
  • Gain local awareness of the event within the Central Valley.
STRATEGY

Below are the tactics that were used.

  • Social Media: I created multiple social media posts showcasing the football game from the previous year with all of the current year’s event information. I then scheduled each post strategically on the battalion’s social media accounts and the local recruiting company’s social media accounts in the Fresno area.
  • Event Photography: Day of the event I took photos of the game to be used for social media content and future marketing materials.
RESULTS

Below were the final results.

  • Total Attendance: 1,200

This was considered a success as twice as many people attended the event as the previous year and there was twice as much media coverage.
